Rock the Plaza Concert SeriesNow in its 13th season, Rock the Plaza takes place Friday nights in June at Lafayette’s Plaza Park at the corner of Mt. Diablo Boulevard and Moraga Road. Always free, family friendly and fun. 

Bring a picnic and a blanket, or buy dinner from the dozens of restaurants located within two blocks of the Plaza.

Lafayette is also home to the annual Lafayette Art and Wine Festival, the 2-day award winning festival held each year during the third weekend in September that draws upwards of 100,000 people from across the Bay Area. 4 stages, with 20+ tribute bands. The Big Jangle Band is a San Francisco Bay Area Band dedicated to playing all things Tom Petty.

They capture the Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers concert experience, so not only playing the music of Tom Petty, but the songs he covers live, such as The Traveling Wilburys, The Byrds and Stevie Nicks. Comprised of seasoned musicians located in the East Bay, you will be guaranteed a great musical and dancing experience!

The Trouble with Monkeys - Friday, June 22, 2018

The Trouble With Monkeys delivers a rocked-out celebration of the Monkees hits, plus other AM/FM radio smashes from 1966-1968 (the timespan of THE MONKEES television show).

The band has opened for popular tribute acts (Zepparella, Hell’s Belles, Get The Led Out, Spazmatics), supported mainstream original artists (Berlin, The Empty Hearts, Gary Hoey, International Swingers, the Vibrators), and performed two-hour sets at festivals (Gilroy Garlic Festival, San Mateo Fair, Summer at the Lake, Lafayette Art, Wine & Music Festival).

In late 2016, The Trouble With Monkeys was signed to Mi5 Recordings/Universal, and the band is currently recording an album for release in Winter 2017.

Lamorinda Idol - Friday, June 29, 2018

Now in it’s 13th year, Lamorinda Idol 2018 is a student singing competition designed in the style of  the American Idol television show.  The program is open to young people in kindergarten through 12th grade who either attend school or reside in Orinda, Moraga or Lafayette.  Singers may enter as soloists or in groups. Young people from outside Lamorinda are permitted to participate in the group categories, provided that at least one member of the group meets the residential requirement.
